If you’ve been following our updates, you’ll know we’ve been deep in the R&D phase, refining our electric A/C system to perfectly integrate with the classic Land Rover Defender. After months of testing, tweaking, and ensuring everything fits seamlessly, we’re thrilled to share some exciting news: we’ve officially fitted the first A/C system in an EV-converted Defender!
In our last update, we were in the middle of developing the system, testing various ways to install it without compromising the Defender’s bodywork or overall performance. This month, Barnaby from Electric Car Converts came by the workshop, and together, we’ve fitted the first full-electric A/C system into his converted Defender—a huge milestone for the project.
Electric Car Converts have been converting classic Land Rovers to fully electric for years, so they were the perfect partners for this project. After plenty of successful tests, including the installation in our testing Defender, we’ve finally got the first customer vehicle kitted out with our electric A/C designed specifically for EV Defenders.
During installation, the evaporator showed a cool temperature of just 7°C—a welcome sight on a sunny day! And in earlier tests, we were able to achieve vent temperatures as low as 0°C. It’s amazing to see how well the system is working, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring modern comfort to these classic vehicles.
As we wrap up development on the diesel version of the system, we’re getting closer to sharing this with everyone. Stay tuned for more updates and announcements—we can’t wait to bring this to more Defenders out on the road!
Be sure to follow along as we continue to and refine our systems, so you can drive vintage, and stay cool.
