The second video detailing the installation of our electric air conditioning into the 1974 Porsche 911 owned by Youtube's HomeBuiltbyJeff covers how to fit the upgraded alternator, updated washer reservoir, and completion of the air-conditioning installation.
Our air-conditioning unit requires a strong 12v supply to work most effectively, so we made sure Jeff had one of our upgraded alternators to help with this. During install, Jeff takes the opportunity to show some of the key improvements compared to the original alternator units.
He also shows the simple process of installing a new washer bottle with our improved washer bottle package. However, when he goes to test the system, he blows a fuse! Thankfully, Jeff already has our upgraded fuse panel installed, so he can easily see which fuse is blown and replace it quickly.
All of our products are designed and built to make installation easy. But Jeff likes to live on the wild side, and after sorting out the washer system, he drops a bombshell that makes our hearts (and jaws) drop. Jeff is going to cut through Harry's pristine dash!
With the audience on the edge of their seats, the home builder gets out some masking tape, a Stanley knife, and a heat gun and goes to town. Watch how Jeff uses a 3D printer to create an air duct for the new vent, and then follow the final steps of the process to complete the A/C install; fitting the blower and connecting all the ducts, wires and sensors.
At the end of the video, the classic Porsche 911 finally has proper air conditioning for those hot summer days. Jeff further reworks the dashboard in more recent videos on his channel, where you can also look back over the restoration of his Porsche 911 restomod. Great job!
